Husbandry Training

Husbandry, by definition, is the scientific management of a branch of animals, generally farming or domestic animals. In the pet world, husbandry training is the act of preparing your pet for "care", which mostly involves grooming or medical procedures. Common examples include:

  • Nail clipping
  • Fur brushing
  • Teeth and ear cleaning
  • Needle work (preparing the animal for vaccines or blood draws)
  • Muzzle training
  • Crate and carrier training (common problem with cats)
  • Bathing
  • Blowdrying
  • Basic manipulation of body
  • Etc....

While some of these may seem simple, and might be something you have no trouble doing at home, certain pets will feel uncomfortable and unsafe when it is a stranger doing them. That is why it is safer to train your pet to accept these practices.
